STAR TESTING

On Wednesday, May 13th and Thursday, May 14th we will be STAR Testing at
Aliso Niguel High School. Due to the constraints of testing required by
the State of California not all students will test all day. In the
past, students who are not required to test all day have called their
parents wanting to go home early. This has caused an unworkable
situation for our attendance office as hundreds of students try to call
their parents to have them call their kids out of school. Therefore,
in trying to accommodate this desire we have moved the tests that only
some students take into the morning hours. This will allow students to
come to school late as opposed to trying to gain permission to leave
early. Please realize this is just an option, as students may attend
all day even if they are not testing. If they choose to attend their
4th period class and they need to be respectful of others that are
testing.

This change has caused a somewhat complex testing schedule that is
explained below.

Students not testing in a certain subject area are not required, but are
welcome, to attend during that testing time. If you choose for your
child to attend please have them bring study materials or a book to read
while other students are testing. Students will be required to attend
class if they are on campus.

Wednesday, May 13th

Seniors are not required to attend this day because they are not taking
STAR exams.

9th through 11th grade students who do not have a science class or are
currently enrolled in Coordinated Science 2 will not test in the morning
and therefore will not be required to come to school until 10:10 am.

Thursday, May 14th

Seniors are not required to attend this day because they are not taking
STAR exams. Seniors planning to attend senior picnic need to meet in
front of the school at 8:30 am

Students who do not have a math class or students who are sophomores or
juniors currently enrolled in Beginning Personal Finance, Algebra 1A or
the first semester of Algebra 1B will not test Thursday morning and
therefore do not have to be at school until 11:20 am.

On Thursday, all freshmen and juniors will be dismissed at 12:10 because
only sophomores are testing in the afternoon.

I understand this can be confusing, therefore our 4th period teachers
will be handing out slips to all students who do not need to test in the
mornings for each day. This will be the students' pass to come onto
campus late, as well as provide verification of your child's testing
schedule.

Below you will find a copy of the testing schedule to help explain all
of these variations. This schedule is also located at
www.alisoniguel.com <http://www.alisoniguel.com/>

Thank you for your patience and understanding.

AP TESTING

2009 Advanced Placement Exams will be administered on our campus May 4 -
May 15.

607 Wolverines will be taking approx. 1,296 tests in a variety of
subjects!!

For those of you who have students testing, please have them arrive at
7:15 a.m. for the morning sessions and 11:45 a.m. for the afternoon
sessions. If your student has a morning and afternoon session on the
same day, have them inform Mrs. Everett or Mrs. Stewart so we will not
start the afternoon session without them. AP Teachers have a copy of
the testing schedule and test locations posted in their classroom. If a
student is late, he/she will not be allowed to test.

All AP test takers need to be reminded of the following:

Re-read the 2009 Bulletin for AP Students and Parents

AP Calculus, Chemistry, Physics and Statistics students read the
calculator policies. Your AP teacher has a copy or you can go to the
College Board's student site at www.collegeboard.com/ap/calculators for
a list of approved graphing calculators.
