Cal State Admission Eligibility

Freshman Admission Requirements for California Residents

Admission offices at the 23 campuses use three factors to determine eligibility. Most applicants who are admitted meet the standards in each of the following areas: 

          Specific high school courses  
          Grades in specified courses and test scores
          Graduation from high school

Some CSU campuses have higher standards for particular majors 
A few campuses have higher standards (supplementary admission criteria) for all applicants.

High School Grades

D or F Grades: If you didn't take all the required high school courses (a-g) or earned D grades in some of them, you have several options to make up these courses and qualify for CSU admission. Please visit (specific high school courses) for more information.

Monitor your progress in high school for CSU eligibility through CSU Mentor:
1. Click on Plan for College, then High School Planner
2. Create a user profile and enter basic personal information
3. Enter the appropriate A-G coursework each semester including grades earned. Do not enter Non- a-g
    courses (ie Health, Geography, CECA, PE). Refer to the official ANHS a-g list for specific approved
    courses.
4. Receive immediate feedback when subject requirments are met and how to correct deficiencies
5. Upload information to your Cal State application in your senior year
